Providence, R.I. (AP) — The woman believed to be Brown University's oldest living graduate is set to celebrate her 108th birthday with members of her college sorority.
Beatrice Coleman was one of the Ivy League university's first female African-American graduates, part of the class of 1925. She will be joined at her birthday party on Sunday afternoon by members of her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha.
The Providence native still plays the piano and keeps up with news at the university by reading The Brown Daily Herald.
Coleman's party is being held at Tockwotton Home, the assisted living facility in Providence where she lives.
