Stonington to host low-cost vaccination clinic for dogs, cats
Stonington - The town will conduct a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the police department. The fee for the rabies shot will be $20, cash only. All dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier.
State law requires that all dogs and cats over three months of age be vaccinated against rabies. Written proof of a prior vaccination is required for a three-year certificate. Dogs three months old or which have not been vaccinated before must receive a one-year vaccination. The vaccinations are sponsored by the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association.
Dog licenses will also be issued at the clinic. Dog licenses must be purchased for all dogs 6 months or older by the end of June at a cost of $8 for a neutered or spayed dog and $19 for all other dogs. After June 30, there will be a late charge imposed of $1 per month for each month that a dog is not licensed. For more information call Town Clerk Cynthia Ladwig at (860) 535-5060.
