Road closures planned following fireworks in Norwich
Norwich – Several roads in the city will be closed temporarily tonight following the fireworks display.
Police are asking those who plan to watch the fireworks, which are scheduled for 9:30 in the harbor off Howard Brown Park on Chelsea Harbor Drive, to arrive early and use the nearby parking garages on Main Street of the transportation center on West Main Street.
The parking lots will be open and free of charge.
Traffic delays are expected following the fireworks and some areas along Route 32 and Washington Street will be temporarily designated as no parking zones. Police said that any vehicles parked within a no parking zone or illegally parked may be towed from the roadway.
Police are also asking pedestrians and vehicles not to block roadways surrounding residential areas.
