Reading allowed at New London library summer program

New London -  More than 160 people have signed up for the Public Library of New London’s summer reading program for adults, teens and children, which debuted last week.

Programs are free and open to the public.

Adults can participate in the summer reading program “Up All Night”  and earn raffle tickets to win gift certificates to downtown New London stores and restaurants, or tickets to the Garde Arts Center.

“Own the Night” is the theme for the Teen Summer reading program, which is open to those between the ages of 13 and 18.  Participants can win prizes by keeping a reading log.  The more times a teen checks in, the more prizes they can win.  The grand prize is a Kindle. The program is funded from a grant from Dime Bank.

Other Teen programs include Zombify Yourself, dance lessons, a poetry workshop and movie nights.

The library has partnered with the local schools to provide  grade appropriate reading lists for those under 13 in “Dream Big.” Families pick a reading list, as well as a reading log, at the library or on the website.  Programs for children include puppet shows, story times, and concerts.

For further information call the library at (860) 447-1411 or visit www.plnl.org.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
