    Foot Chase Ends in Arrest

    Police pursued two shoplifting suspectsfor several hours in downtown Madison on Friday, July 27, before arresting one.

    According to Madison Police, Zoltan Verillo, 27, of Branford, along with a white female who is still being sought in connection to the chase, had been involved in a larceny spree that ocurred over the past several days at Stop & Shop. The spree consisted of several thousands of dollars of merchandise. Police said that the suspects had been under surveillance by the store's security ad when confronted by security personnel on Friday, both fled on foot into the downtown area.

    Verillo was pursued on foot by police but the female suspect could not be located and police are still attempting to locate her. According to a press release from the Madison Police Department, Verillo remained at large for several hours and was eventually apprehended following a second foot chase in the area of Academy School.

    Verillo has been charged with organized retail theft, larceny in the third degree, ad interferring with police.
