Traffic to be disrupted during Niantic Bay Triathlon

East Lyme — Drivers should expect delays or detours on several local streets Sunday during the Niantic Bay Triathlon.

Traffic will be disrupted between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. Sunday on the following streets: Route 156/Main Street, Route 161/Flanders Road, Pennsylvania Avenue, Haigh Avenue, Columbus Avenue, Crescent Avenue, Terrace Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Atlantic Street, South Washington Avenue, Beach Avenue, Manwaring Road, Shore Road, Bride Brook Road, Dean Road, Society Road, Riverview Road and Roxbury Road.

Delays can also be expected on intersecting streets.

More than 600 athletes are expected to take part in the annual event, which includes a half-mile swim, 12-mile bike ride and 3.5-mile run. The staging area for the race is McCook Point Park.
