Westerly — The Ocean Community YMCA will host its leadership recognition breakfast on Aug. 28 at 8 a.m. at the Ocean House in Watch Hill.

The event will pay tribute to the three community leaders who have impacted the YMCA and the Westerly-Pawcatuck area.

They are A. Michael Slosberg who is being honored in the area of youth development. For 27 years, he has hosted the UBS golf tournament which helps needy children to attend Camp Watchaug. He served on the YMCA board for 24 years and was its chairman from 1983-85.

Joseph Kirby is being honored in the area of healthy lifestyle. He was the chairman of the YMCA’s 1993 capital campaign and worked on the community phase of the 2008 campaign. He has received the YMCA’s service to youth award for his commitment to young people and he has worked on the capital campaigns for Westerly Hospital and Westerly Library.

Peter Griffin is being honored in the area of social responsibility for his work in the major gifts division for the 2008 capital campaign. He has also volunteered on the Westerly Hospital capital campaign.
