Towns in our area continue to offer respite to their residents.

In Lyme, the Senior Center on Town Road will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. as a respite center. Water, bottled water, toilets, WiFi, charging stations and meals are available, but there are no shower facilities, said a message on the Town's website.

The Hadlyme and Hamburg Fire Stations are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for water, showers, bottled water, toilets and charging stations but no meals are available there.

"We are currently in the 'Clear and Make Safe' phase of the process of restoring power to the town," stated the Town's website.

No precise power restoration estimates are available, but the town has been told to expect a power restoration timeframe similar to Tropical Storm Irene, according to the website. The Connecticut Light & Power liaison has been at the town's Emergency Operations Center since Monday and CL & P have been working since it was safe after the hurricane.

The parking area between the Lyme – Old Lyme Middle School and Center School has ice available. Schools are closed today.

All roads are open in town, except for Mitchell Hill Road. "Mitchell Hill is the first priority Wednesday morning once we have a tree and electric crew on site," the website stated.

Trash pickups will resume Thursday. Please contact Jansky's Rubbish Removal at 860-304-3537 if an emergency pickup is needed.

In Groton, the Senior Center is open today as a respite center.  

The center has showers available along with Wi-Fi and power to charge electronic devices.

Normal Senior Center activities are canceled.
