Ledyard — Route 214 between Route 12 and Avery Hill Road was closed for much of Friday because of a downed utility pole and power line, Lt. Michael Finkelstein said.

Emergency dispatchers said the road remained closed Friday evening. Work was expected to continue on the power line throughout the night.

According to the Connecticut Light & Power website, 18 customers of 6,594 in the town remained without power as of 8 p.m.
