Stonington — The Highway Department is in the final stages of its annual leaf, brush and debris pickup after Hurricane Sandy. 

If residents have a leaf or brush pile that has been on the side of the road for a few weeks but not yet picked up, they can call  the Public Works Department at (860) 535-5055.  The department said it will do its best to pick up any remaining piles before it switches over to winter operations.
