    Norwich Human Services offers income tax filing assistance

    Norwich – For the eighth straight year, Norwich Human Services will offer help to complete income tax returns at no cost to low and moderate income Norwich residents.

    Any person or family earning $50,000 or less is eligible to apply. Staff and volunteers at the Norwich Human Services are certified by the IRS to complete federal and state income tax returns. The program strives to help families qualify and apply for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit, a vital poverty-reducing program that could bring a refund of up to $5,891 a family.

    Additionally, the state Earned Income Tax credit could be as high as $3,169. Families and singles may apply at Norwich Human Services, 80 Broadway, Norwich. Senior Citizens are encouraged to apply at the Rose City Senior Center.

    Norwich Human Services will take applications from Jan. 15 through April 10. Appointments will be available during the day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Evening appointments are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Saturday daytime appointments are also available.
