Fog, some black ice for tonight

Most of the rain has stopped for today but dense fog will remain through the night and area roadways are experiencing some ponding from the rain and melting snow.

News 8 Storm Team Meteorologist Quincy Vagell said temperatures tonight will be around freezing, leading to concerns of black ice. A dense fog warning is in effect through midnight tonight.

The shoreline should stay right above freezing, Vagell said, so much of the ice concerns are inland. Fog has shrouded the state, though, and “poor drainage flooding and clogged storm drains are the biggest concern,” Vagell said.

Tuesday should see temperatures in the low 40s, Vagell said, bringing more snow melting. The News 8 team is tracking another storm for Wednesday evening, Vagell said, but its track and severity remain uncertain, he said.
