Recreation Department accepting summer camp financial assistance applications

Norwich - The city Recreation Department will accept financial aid forms through April 30 for summer camp registration.

Forms may be picked up at the Recreation Office or online at the city website. Anyone wishing to be considered for assistance must have completed forms into the office no later than April 30.

All four summer programs from Kinder Camp (those entering kindergarten in September), Day Camp (completed kindergarten through sixth grade), Teen Camp (12 to 15 or have completed sixth grade) and Counselor in Training (15 years old or completed 10th grade) will be held at Moriarty School from June 24 through Aug. 16.

Each one-week session will have a special theme and activities for that week based on the theme. A daily snack and lunch will be provided for camp participants.

Recreation Director C. Roger Moss said the department received a $10,000 grant from the Eastern Connecticut Foundation last year and hopes to receive the funding again this year.

The Recreation Department is a Care 4 Kids provider. This means families may apply for assistance through this state. More information and forms are available online at www.ctcare4kids.com.

Please contact the Recreation Department at (860) 823-3791 for further information Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m.
