    Blumenthal to discuss school safety at Kelly Middle School

    Norwich – U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal will visit Norwich Thursday to discuss school safety issues with school and city leaders at Kelly Middle School.

    Blumenthal is scheduled to visit with officials at Kelly at 1:15 p.m. and then go to the Norwich Community Development Corp. office at 2:30 p.m.

    At Kelly, Blumenthal will view safety features at the school in his fourth school tour this month in his effort to improve school and campus safety.

    A vote on the matter is expected in April. Norwich Superintendent Abby Dolliver, Board of Education Chairwoman Yvette Jacaruso, Kelly Middle School Principal Bill Peckrul and school resource officers are expected to attend.

    Following the school tour at 2:30 p.m., Blumenthal will stop by the NCDC office at 77 Main St. and speak to local Main Street business owners.
