    Preston to host summer youth basketball camp

    Preston – The Parks and Recreation Department is offering the first Preston summer basketball camp in August for local youth.

    The Hoop Academy Summer Slam Basketball Camp will run from Aug. 12 to 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the air-conditioned Preston Veterans’ Memorial School gymnasium for boys and girls who will enter grades three to nine in the coming school year. Registration is open now. Forms are available on the Parks and Recreation page on the town’s website at www.preston-ct.org and at the Parks and Recreation office at Town Hall. The cost is $150 for Preston residents, and $160 for non-residents.

    Parents must provide transportation and students must bring lunches.

    The camp will be run by Hoop Academy. All campers will receive a full week of drills and instruction on all aspects of the game including shooting, dribbling, passing and defense. There will also be guest speakers, contests, prizes and medals, Participants will play two games per day.

    Prizes. All campers will receive a free T-shirt. Coach George Hardison and Coach Colleen Hardison will be the camp directors.
