    East Lyme budget hearing April 25

    East Lyme — The Board of Finance will present next year’s proposed budget to residents at a public hearing Thursday evening.

    The total budget stands at $63,199,865, or a 1.58 percent increase over this year’s budget.

    The general government budget stands at $15,488,160, a 1.58 percent increase, while capital is $988,015, a 24 percent increase. The Board of Education’s budget is $41,941,731, a 1.76 percent increase over this year. In deliberations earlier this month, the finance board had reduced the budget approved by the school board by $650,000. The board also cut the capital budget by $182,384 and the general government by $146,223.

    The public hearing will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the East Lyme High school auditorium.
