Ledyard – A panel discussion about non-GMO labeling and marketing will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Aiki Farms, 769 Shewville Road.

The event is part of efforts to support a bill pending in the state legislature to require labeling of products containing genetically modified organisms.

Following the discussion, there will be a seed-sprouting seminar and low-cost fodder-production demonstration.

The panel will consist of former U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons; Ron Rainey, spokesman for the Arkansas non-GMO movement; Analiese Paik, sustainable food advocate and founder of the Fairfield Green Food Guide; former state Sen. Edith Prague; Bill Duesing, executive director of the Connecticut Northeast Organic Farmers Association; Wayne Hoener, vice president of eMerge-seed-Non-GMO seed; Dan Masters, owner-operator of non-GMO Hiland Naturals Ltd.; and Ian Skoggard, member of the United Christ Churches Green Team and an organizer in the non-GMO effort.

A $10 donation per family is requested.
