    Norwich runs annual No. 1 dog license contest

    Norwich – The city clerk’s office is holding its 13th annual No. 1 dog license contest through May 31 to allow dog owners to apply early for annual license renewals and be entered into the contest to win the No. 1 dog tag for a year.

    Dog licenses must be renewed during June for the year that runs from July 1 through June 30, 2014. The city clerk’s office will take advance applications for the contest until noon on Friday, May 31. The drawing for the No. 1 dog tag will be held that afternoon.

    The winner will receive reimbursement for the license fee, the No. 1 dog tag and a basket of dog treats and supplies.

    Applications are available in the city clerk’s office or at the city clerk’s page on the city website, www.norwichct.org.

    Along with the application, dog owners must submit the license fee, $8 for a neutered/spayed dog or $19 for a non-neutered/non-spayed dog, proof of neutering/spaying for a new dog registration and proof of rabies vaccination.

    Applications can be brought or mailed to the Norwich City Clerk’s Office, 100 Broadway, Norwich, CT 06360.
