Planted with grass seed last spring, Old Saybrook's new town Ferry Road athletic field is finally ready now for its debut as the town's largest recreational athletic field. To prepare for the recreational soccer season, Public Works crews recently were using recycled road millings to create the field's parking area. The field, while the largest town recreational field, is only large enough to meet the dimensional requirements for up to U-12 teen soccer teams. Older teen teams, like for U-13 and U-14 soccer, require larger fields to meet league specifications.
