    New London Green Party to kick off campaign

    New London — The New London Green Party has nominated two candidates for the November municipal election and will kick off its campaign on Saturday.

    Last week, the Greens nominated Ronna Stuller for City Council and Mirna Martinez for Board of Education. Martinez has also been endorsed by the Republican Town Committee.

    A “Chat, Snacks, & Greens,” reception will take place 6:30 to 8: 30 p. m., at campaign headquarters at 102 Golden St. The candidates will be on hand to discuss issues important to New London. There also will be refreshments and music.

    Stuller is a community activistwhoservedontheschool board from 2009 to 2011. She was not re- elected in 2011. She is a founding member of the Thames Hilltop Neighborhood Association, a founding member and treasurer of Riverside Park Conservancy and producer and host of the New London Green Party’s public access program, “Thinking Green.” She is a longtime member of the SECT Peace & Justice network.

    Martinez is a bilingual educator who has lived in New London since 2002. She is a founding member of New London Parent Advocates and is youth program director at FRESH (Food: Resources, Education, Security, Health). She also ran unsuccessfully in 2011 for the school board on the Green Party ticket.
