No change in school board lineup after Preston recount

Preston - A recount of the entire five-candidate school board election in Preston on Saturday morning resulted in a different vote count, but not a different outcome.

"There was only one discrepancy, but it was the same result," Ted Powell, the town's elections moderator, said Saturday afternoon.

After Tuesday's municipal elections, Democratic candidate Pauline Andruskiewicz trailed fellow Democrat Karin Davis for the fifth and final seat on the town's Board of Education.

But after a 3½ hour recount of all 944 ballots, Davis' vote count increased by one, and Andruskiewicz lost the election by a total of six votes.

In the race, voters elected Republicans Jennifer Harris and Charles Raymond as well as petitioning Democrat Cynthia Luty. Davis will be the fourth board member.
