    Norwich dance event honors newly elected alderman

    Norwich - The Wilson family will celebrate two major accomplishments tonight, as newly elected Alderman Terell Wilson welcomes his older brother back to his hometown for the 10th anniversary of Steven Wilson’s Oasis Dance Company of Washington.

    The elder Wilson’s dance company will perform a special show to promote bullying prevention and to mark the two occasions at 7 p.m. Friday at the Jacqueline Owens Auditorium at the Kelly Middle School, 25 Mahan Drive, followed by a reception.

    Terell Wilson will serve as guest host for the Oasis premiere of “It Gets Better … Stop Bullying” to launch its 10th anniversary celebration.

    The Norwich branch of the NAACP is co-sponsoring the event.

    A 2002 graduate of the Norwich Free Academy, Steven Wilson founded the dance company and serves as a performer, teacher, choreographer and director.

    Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for high school students, $5 for elementary and middle school students and free for children under age 5..
