Waterford — Construction of gas line that will begin Monday along Route 1 will cause traffic delays, according to police.

 The construction will stretch from Willetts Avenue to the New London city line.

 The project is part of a gas line already under construction on Willetts Avenue, according to Sgt. Tim Silva.

 He said he does not expect the construction to cause closures, but said people should pay attention when entering the area.

 “You may have delays,” he said.
