The Madison Chamber of Commerce held its first Bed Race on May 18, as teams sprinted about 100 yards to determine the fastest team. Four members of the Daniel Hand High School football team won the trophy for the Madison Beach Hotel with the fastest time (here, the Tidewater Inn B&B team races to a respectable finish). The Chamber estimated a crowd of about 1,000 for this inaugural event.

"It far exceeded our wildest expectations," said Chamber Executive Director Eileen Banisch. "We're already working on next year's event."
