Norwich — One person was killed in an accident late this afternoon that shut down the eastbound lanes of Route 2 for five hours.
The accident occurred about 4 p.m., between exits 23 and 27, and traffic was diverted off the highway at exit 23 in Bozrah, state police said. No other details were immediately available about the identity of the person who was killed or other victims.
State Police handled numerous accidents in eastern Connecticut, police said. Police departments in Groton, New London and other communities were also busy responding to crashes on slick roads this afternoon and evening.
