Season's first significant snow coming this weekend

The season's first significant storm could bring up to 10 inches of snow to some parts of the region.

Gary Lessor, meteorologist with The Weather Center at Western Connecticut State University, said the snow should enter the state early Saturday and will stick around for most of the day, exiting late Saturday or early Sunday.

"This is the first significant snow this year," said Lessor. "We can expect five to 10 inches. Wind gusts could reach 45 to 55 miles per hour...so power outages are possible."

Lessor said Sunday will be cold and blustery with temperatures in the low 30s.

But Lessor said there will be a warming trend next week with temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees.
