UCFS in line to receive $2 million for new Griswold health center

United Community & Family Services announced Friday that the State Bond Commission meeting agenda for Jan. 29 includes $2 million in support for the construction of a new larger health center in Griswold.

In fiscal year 2015, UCFS’ current Griswold site provided 12,186 medical and behavioral health visits to 2,071 unduplicated clients, the organization said in a news released.

UCFS said it began leasing the site of the current health center in 2008 and quickly realized that the site would not be able to sustain the rapid growth it was experiencing.

The new health center will enable UCFS to increase capacity and expand services. Upon completion of the new larger facility, UCFS anticipates hiring additional staff.

“This announcement is a game changer for the Griswold community," Griswold First Selectman Kevin Skulczyck said. "Health care is a vital piece of any community and the quality of care that UCFS provides is top notch.”
