While many were nestled at home by the fire last weekend, members of Lyme-Old Lyme Troop 26 Boys Scouts ventured to northern Minnesota for a dog sledding adventure.
John Miller and Ted Wayland, both Life Scouts, along with two scoutmasters, spent three nights and four days on the Northern Tier Okpik Adventure. They learned to run their own dog sled team, traveled up to 25 miles a day, and set up a “snow” kitchen on the ice.
Troop 26, which embraces the Boy Scout philosophy about the importance of adventure trips for young boys, is open to new members. Weekly meetings are 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Lyme Fire Company.
