Keeping the Morgan shipshape
Mystic Seaport Ships Keeper Harry Paul power washes the bow area of the historic wooden whaleship Charles W. Morgan, Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at the H.B. duPont Preservation Shipyard. The Morgan, a national historic landmark and the last wooden whaleship of its kind in the world, will be out of the water for about a month on a regularly scheduled maintenance.
The Morgan was last out of the water for a five-year restoration and was re-launched in July of 2013 in preparation for the historic 38th voyage of the summer of 2014. The Morgan, and the seaport's other large historic vessels; the Joseph Conrad and the L.A. Dunton are on a three-year rotation for haul-out.
