On the Side: Namoo Korean Eatery
Namoo Korean Eatery
When I lived in Canterbury eons ago, we went out to dinner in Norwich. But when we moved to Old Lyme, the only reason to drive farther away than New London was to spend time with Joan and Michael Gordon, decades-long friends who live in Norwich.
But when Joan raved about this Korean restaurant in Norwich, I couldn’t wait to try it. I love Korean food and, as far as I know, there are none within 40 miles of my part of the shoreline.
I don’t like kimchi, which is fermented cabbage, but the owners’ mother makes both cabbage and cucumbers... I gobbled up the cucumbers. We shared the vegetable pancake. To even compare it to scallion pancakes in Asian restaurants would be unfair.
For our entrees I had the Spicy Pork Bowl; Joan had the BiBimBap with mushrooms and chicken. Both dishes include grains and vegetables, all as fresh as can be.
Yes, it is a bit of a drive, but the food was superb and the prices so reasonable that Namoo a worthwhile destination.
