Old Mystic Fire Department replaces parking lot

Mystic — The Old Mystic Fire Department is about a week away from the expected completion of construction outside its 295 Cow Hill Road facility.

Ongoing at the fire department has been parking lot and ramp replacement, a project that Deputy Chief Robert Sullivan said began Oct. 23 and is scheduled to be mostly completed on Nov. 22.

The project was necessary because of the age of the driveway, and to replace it with concrete instead of asphalt, Sullivan said. This is the first parking lot replacement since the building was constructed in 2000.

During construction, the station has temporary parking in a grass lot to the north. Leaving this area is right-turn only.

The fire department is advising people who need to stop by the office to call ahead at (860) 536-2220, in case of any last-minute changes.
