Richards, de la Cruz qualify for state campaign financing

Groton – Democratic State Rep. Joe de la Cruz and his Republican challenger Ken Richards have qualified for public campaign financing through the state's Citizens' Election Program.

This means that the two candidates for the 41st District seat has each raised more than $5,100 from at least 150 residents of Groton and New London, with a donation between $5 and $250 from each person.

Richards announced his qualification in a news release, while de la Cruz confirmed to The Day on Monday that he reached the fundraising threshold.
