Friends and Neighbors: East Lyme siblings win scholarship three years apart

Three years after her brother Joshua was honored, recent Williams School graduate Rachel Goldstein has been named a Lieberman Scholar.

Goldstein, who lives in East Lyme, was named class valedictorian at Williams, where she swam, ran cross-country and played lacrosse. She will be attending the University of Pennsylvania to study economics.

Every year, five Connecticut high school graduates are selected to receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Joe Lieberman Connecticut Scholarship Fund. The scholarship recognizes students with high achievement in academics, community service and leadership, and it renews for all four years of college.

Her brother, Joshua, is a senior at Georgetown University studying accounting.
