New London library to be open as a cooling center

New London -- With excessive heat and humidity forecast for the next two days, the city will open a cooling center at the Public Library of New London on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

From 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the cooling center will be in the library’s community room on the bottom floor and after 1 p.m. the entire library will be open for cooling. Senior citizen bus transportation will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. if any seniors need a ride to the library. To schedule a ride, call the Senior Citizen Center at (860) 447-5232.
