    Ziobron to open campaign headquarters on Thursday

    Republican Melissa Ziobron, the 34th District state representative who is running for the 33rd District Senate seat, has announced that she will open her campaign headquarters on Thursday at 105 Elm St., Old Saybrook. 

    The 33rd Senate district encompasses East Hampton, East Haddam, Portland, Colchester, Haddam, Lyme, Chester, Deep River, Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Clinton and Essex. Ziobron lives in East Haddam.

    The center will serve as a regional headquarters for another candidate for the state Senate, state Sen. Paul Formica, R-East Lyme, as well as several candidates for the state House, including state Rep. Devin Carney, R-Old Lyme; state Rep. Bob Siegrist, R-Higganum; Irene Haines of East Haddam, who is running for Ziobron's 34th House district seat; state Rep. Christie Carpino, R-Cromwell; and state Rep. Jesse MacLachlan, R-Westbrook, according to a news release.

    Supporters are invited to stop by to enjoy light refreshments from 6 to 8 p.m., pick up campaign materials and learn about opportunities to volunteer for the candidates.
