New London students present story of immigration at Otis Library

Norwich — Local sixth-graders will tell the story of immigration through the experiences of families in southeastern Connecticut in an exhibit that opens Wednesday at Otis Library.

Sixth-grade students from New London's Interdistrict School for Arts and Communication (ISAAC) have produced an interactive book filled with original photographs and stories from people who have immigrated to southeastern Connecticut.

Students Yainiliz Lopez and Shem Adams will give a presentation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Otis Library Community Room, 261 Main St., Norwich, and answer questions about the exhibit, which will run through Sept. 29 at the library.

The students spoke at the state Capitol when they accepted a prestigious award for their work that positively impacted the lives of Connecticut immigrants, and continue to present their interactive art exhibit throughout the Northeast.
