New London — The saluting battery crew at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy fire a 21-gun salute Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, in honor of former U.S. President George H.W. Bush.

Bush — the nation's 41st president and father of the 43rd — died on Nov. 30 at the age of 94. The salute, 21-gun in honor of a head of state, coincided with similar salutes at military installations across the nation. It also coincided with Bush's funeral in Houston, Texas.
