THE SITUATION: The 40-bed shelter is full nearly every night. Its respite area provides 24-hour care for those experiencing health crises. During the winter months, the shelter also operates a warming center so that homeless individuals can escape the cold weather, even if the shelter is full.
WHAT TO GIVE: New or gently used twin size blankets that are machine washable, and pillows. Canisters of coffee, bags of sugar, travel-size toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner and lotion, as well as socks, toothbrushes and toothpaste also are needed.
