Montville schools to aid families affected by shutdown

Montville — Families whose income is affected by the government shutdown may apply for free and reduced-price meals for children attending the town's public schools. Contact Montville Food Services for more information.

The Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Bank is helping families this week at the U.S. Coast Guard Southeastern Connecticut CPOA and at the Coast Guard Enlisted Association of Southeastern Connecticut’s pop-up food pantry at Leamy Hall at the Coast Guard Academy.

For anyone who wants to donate, the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut at 283 Stoddards Wharf Road in Gales Ferry will serve as a drop off location on from 8:30 to 2 p.m. Jan. 21 for the following items: diapers (sizes 3 and 5), baby food, laundry detergent and personal hygiene products.
