New London's Nolan takes oath of office in Hartford

New London police Officer Anthony Nolan was sworn in Friday as state representative for the 39th House District.

Secretary of the State Denise Merrill presided over the ceremony at the State Capitol. Nolan was elected at a Feb. 26 special election. His district covers about two-thirds of New London.

“I am humbled to serve the people of New London in the Connecticut House of Representatives,” Nolan said in a statement. “I am ready to get to work and amplify the voices of my constituents.”

Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz, in a statement, said he looked forward to working with Nolan.

“His years of public service reflect his commitment to the district and state. I am proud to have him on our team,” Aresimowicz said.

Nolan will serve on the legislature’s Aging, Insurance and Real Estate, and Appropriations committees. The New London City Council could vote as early as Monday on a replacement for Nolan on the council.
