Norwich – Norwich Free Academy will name interim Athletic Director Roy Wentworth as the new permanent director Tuesday during an after-school press conference, school officials said.

Wentworth was named interim athletic director in January after having served as liaison to the athletic department from September through December following the resignation Sept. 10 of former Athletic Director Eric Swallow. Swallow’s resignation came two days before former assistant coach Anthony Facchini was charged with two counts of sexual assault in alleged relations with two minor NFA students.

A 1983 NFA graduate, Wentworth wrestled for the late coach Carl Snitkin before serving as his assistant and eventually replacing Snitkin has NFA's head coach for 13 years.

NFA will hold a press conference with Wentworth at 2:30 p.m. in the Athletic Office, Norton Gymnasium.
