Groton City police to hold prescription drug take-back event on April 27

Groton — The City of Groton Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will offer an opportunity for people to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Municipal Building, 295 Meridian St. The service is free and anonymous and no questions will be asked.

This will be an opportunity for people to "prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs," according to a news release. Sites participating in the Take Back Day event cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches.

More information about the disposal of prescription drugs or the Take Back Day event is available at www.DEATakeBack.com or the police department's Facebook.
