Friends and Neighbors: Cub Scouts install Little Free Library in North Stonington
Cub Scouts from Pack 71 in North Stonington debuted a Little Free Library in a ribbon cutting on Sunday, April 28. The project started last year, as all Cub Scout dens are required annually to complete a woodworking project. Pack 71’s Bear and Webelos I dens teamed up to construct the Little Free Library, using materials donated by family and friends to repurpose old wood, shingles and other items already on hand.
Using a plan found online, the scouts put together the library during three building sessions and installed it on site with approval from the town. The library is located at the corner of Pinecrest Road and Old Colony Road.
The pack selected the Kingswood neighborhood for the Little Free Library because it is home to many children, complete with a path to North Stonington Elementary School. They hope that children walking or biking around the neighborhood will visit the library to take or leave a book.
