Westerly climate strike vigil planned for May 24
Westerly — The Westerly Area Peace and Justice Group will hold a climate strike vigil on Friday, May 24, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the fountain in the downtown.
The climate strikes, which began in Sweden, have been held around the world “to protest government inaction on climate change.”
The group said its actions will support those of “Laudato Si Generation,” “an international movement of Catholic youth, calling for national action on climate change and will help raise awareness of the need for a Green New Deal.”
It added that citizens of all ages “are encouraged to join together with a clear message that “we are out of time and we’re taking action now.”
