On Saturday, May 18, volunteers from the Stonington Economic Development Commission, Stonington Beautification, Humans for the Future and Trash Talk joined forces in hauling refuse out of a six-acre vacant lot behind the Pawcatuck Fire Station.
The overgrown parcel, known as the “Circus Lot,” sits aside the Pawcatuck River, just north of the railroad trestle. Bill Hobbs, EDC member, organized the effort “to build public awareness for the potential community asset.”
A dumpster was provided by E-Z Waste, and the clean-up event was sponsored and organized by the Stonington EDC.
