New preschool opening in Gales Ferry, open house Saturday
Ledyard — Longtime teacher Dieneke Andrus is opening a Montessori preschool at 7 Hurlbutt Road, and she is hosting a meet-and-greet from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
Little Acorn Preschool, which serves kids ages 2.9 to 6, still has spots available for September. Andrus said the cost depends on the program, with programs available for Tuesday and Thursday; Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and Monday through Friday. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The center offers Kindermusik and Karma Kids Yoga, and as a nature-based program, it has an outdoor classroom that's "not a typical playground," Andrus said.
