Hearing set to discuss leadership shakeup at Connecticut Port Authority

The state legislature's Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on recent leadership changes and upheaval at the Connecticut Port Authority at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

Several local legislators, including state Sens. Cathy Osten, D-Sprague, and Heather Somers, R-Groton, and state Rep. Devin Carney, R-Old Lyme, called on the chairmen of the committee to convene the hearing after the executive director of the port authority was placed on leave for undisclosed reasons, and the board chairwoman resigned over payments made to her daughter for artwork that hung in the port authority's Old Saybrook offices.

The port authority's board is expected to meet, as regularly scheduled, on Wednesday in New London. The board is expected to elect a new chair at the meeting.
