UConn Avery Point police host meet and greet

Area residents are invited to the University of Connecticut at Avery Point campus Friday, Sept. 27, for a community meet and greet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the campus gazebo.

Sgt. Justin Cheney, a 2007 UConn graduate and four-year member of UConn Police, will be on hand with Officer Tildy, a three-year-old Labrador retriever/golden retriever mix. Tildy joined the force to help with victim assistance at the department and boost community engagement, and the duo received the Community Policing Award from the United States Attorney’s Office in New Haven in 2018.
