Electric Boat employee association hosting food drive

Members of the Electric Boat Employees' Community Services Association will be at five area Stop and Shop stores Saturday for the group's annual Live United food drive.

Volunteers will be collecting nonperishable food items and monetary donations at stores in Norwich, Waterford, Groton, Montville and Colchester from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Bank, which supports hunger programs throughout the county.

Donations of canned tuna, canned soup and stew, peanut butter and spaghetti sauce are especially needed; for safety reasons, expired items or items in glass containers will not be accepted.
