Norwich Public Utilities to shut off water in two neighborhoods for construction

Norwich — Norwich Public Utilities will shut off water service temporarily to customers in two neighborhoods Wednesday and Thursday to complete infrastructure work related to the new Optimus senior housing project on Route 82 in Bozrah.

On Wednesday, NPU will temporarily shut off water service in the Teddy Lane neighborhood, and on Thursday, NPU will temporarily shut off water service in the Arrowhead Drive neighborhood.

On both days, NPU and contractor crews will be working to connect customers on Teddy Lane, Britany Knoll and Arrowhead Drive to the newly installed 16-inch water main on Salem Turnpike.

The work will begin approximately 7 a.m., and water service should be restored by 5 p.m. on both nights.

“We will be making every effort for this work to be completed as quickly and safely as possible,” NPU said in a news release Tuesday.

Once water service is restored, customers’ water may seem slightly discolored. If this occurs, opening the faucet and allowing the water to run for three to five minutes should resolve the issue.
